I have been really worried all year long. I knew it was time to see a new eye doctor for Kylie. Don't get me wrong, I loved our old one - he is truly one of the most generous and kindest person I have ever met. However, I have felt like progress was not being made to help her eye that slightly turns. I would always hear "don't worry, it will get better." I have studied on the subject a lot lately and have learned that if you don't get it corrected by the time they are 10, they lose function and the ability to ever fix it. So again, for an entire year I have felt stressed and worried about this. I decided that maybe a pediatric opthamologist would be our best bet. There is only one here in southeast idaho and he is in Pocatello - but our insurance wouldn't pay for him. They would pay for a couple down in Utah and I thought that is what we were going to have to do. Then we got lucky.
My parents found a relatively new guy here in Rexburg that they really liked and even talked with him a little bit about their granddaughter who had a bit of a lazy eye. He told them all about it and he has worked with little kids with it. So I made an appointment.
I have to say, I was extremely impressed and actually enjoyed our appointment. He was thorough - took the time, explained everything, and was very kid friendly. I am saying this because if anyone needs an eye doctor - I recommend him 100%. His name is Dr. Heiner. The other awesome part is that Kylie currently didn't have any glasses and they usually take a week to get in. He got them in two days and Kylie is so happy with them. She looks great!
